Its that time of year again…BOXING DAY SALES!!

Yes, the day we all rush out to buy loads of stuff we “need”.

Some people are really sensible when it comes to shopping and they only purchase things they need or would have brought “full price” but wait until this day for a bargain. I am awful at this, I love a bargain, regardless of what it is, if its reduced, its already caught my eye.

However, this year, I made a plan of what I needed/wanted and was going to stick to it. Until I got into the shops and saw all the lovely reduced tags. My plan quickly turned into an epic fail.

I had planned to get 3 items, yes, only 3.

1. Lacoste – a touch of pink.
2. Elizabeth Arden – red door
3. A nice watch – I’ve had my eye set on an MK watch for ages, but its always out of stock (mk3191) I have managed to buy “a touch of pink” and a DKNY watch, the mirror affect one in rose gold. This was the backup watch I wanted. I did however pay less then what I was planning on spending, which is a bonus.

I’m still looking for a gift box set of Red door. Fingers crossed, I find it tomorrow.

A side from this, I have picked up, a black lace dress. I don’t know if I’m going to keep this as its not very hijab friendly around the shoulders. A statement necklace, two hijabs; one floral and one paisley print, an eye shadow kit, which contains 12 very pretty colours and a large maroon clutch. I also picked up black sequin jacket, it has a very 1920s style to it, which is exactly what I need for a themed work do I’m attending next month.

Apart from my original plan, the only extra item I brought that I really needed was the sequin jacket, everything else was only purchased because of the red labels on them.

I need serious help when it comes to sales. I’m always OTT with everything and I loose my senses when I see the sale tag. Any tips on how to stay in control when sale shopping are most welcome.
I don’t dislike any of the stuff I brought; I just didn’t need any of it at all.

O well…pictures to follow, let me know what you think.

Guess whose back...

It has been a very long while since I last posted anything. I’ve had a few computer issues. But hopefully now, I will be able to get back into the flow of things. I wanted to start of with saying, O MY GOSH I can’t believe its already December. This year has just flown by. So much has happened but I still can’t believe that we are now in the last month of 2014.

Anyway, lets get into it… It’s pretty cold here in the south east of England and like most people I do suffer from dry skin in the winter. So, I have now started using Nivea crème. I use this every winter. It a nice thick crème that is oily and its exactly what my face needs in these cold grey mornings. Although I have noticed that my eyeliner doesn’t like the oily base and I’ve been coming from work looking like a panda. Not a good look – to avoid this I’ve changed from using gel eyeliner back to using liquid liner – problem solved.

While I was picking up the much-needed liquid liner I decided I’d have another look at the MUA stand. For all my overseas readers, MUA is a super affordable makeup brand in the UK. They have some great eye shadow palettes out at the moment. I managed to resist buying one but now I can’t stop thinking about it, so I guess I might end up buying it tomorrow. However, I did pick up a Matte lipstick. It’s the first Matte lipstick that I have tired in their range, I chose Fawn Fancy, which is a taupe/brown colour. I also picked up a bronzer. The bronzer is a replacement for same item I already own and have hit pan on it. Not just hit pan on the item but I literally have one corner left.

I do have so much I need to write about and tell you guys about, I’m off to watch the Apprentice on catch-up – #teamdaniel all the way.

Younique 3d fibre lashes

So, a few weeks ago I was approached by a independent representative for Younique 3D fibre lash mascara.

She asked if I was interested in trying out the product, guess what I said…obviously I jumped at the chance.

Prior to @fabulashtricia approaching me I had seen this product creeping in on my news feed. Some of the reviews seemed like complete lash transformations. I did wonder how real these photos were…

So, I eagerly waited for postman pat to turn up with my parcel. When it finally turned up I couldn’t wait to try I on.

The mascara comes in a cute glasses case type box. It contained two tubes, one with the fibres and the other was the sealing gel.

It is very important to apply the product as per the instructions otherwise you will experience some fall out.

Instructions..
1. Do one eye at a time
2. Apply regular mascara on your lashes.
3. Apply the Gel
4. Before the gel dries apply the fibre
5. Apply more gel to seal the fibres on to the lashes.

I found one coat was enough to create the wide eyed full volume lash look. However, if you wanted to add more, you will need to repeat steps to 3  to 5. Always use a lash comb in between each application to avoid any clumping of your lashes.

Without any doubt I found this product amazing. Thank you @fabulashtricia for asking me to review this it. I absolutely love it.
If you guys would like to also try this product out then please log on to www.myyouniquelonglashmascara.com
This mascara is launching soon in the UK, so if you want to be one of the first to try it and have amazing long thick lashes then click the link above.
There are a quite a few other products sold on the site, this is the only one I have tired, but it has defiantly got me looking at the other products.

Also, Follow @fabulashtricia for more information on how to host an online Facebook party .

Makeup Revolution

Its been too long again…I’m sorry. I seem to get so busy sometimes, its crazy!

So, I if you follow me on twitter or Insta-gram you may have noticed that I finally brought some makeup revolution products.

After reading all the reviews online, its safe to say that I was not surprised. Before you say anything, that’s not a bad thing. All the reviews I had read before my purchase were amazing – the products I brought did not disappoint.

My intention was to buy the naked palette dupe, but when I saw the “RUN BOY RUN” palette, I couldn’t take my eyes off it. I love it. It has beautiful earthy shimmer shades, as will as matt shades to go in the crease of you eye to create depth. This palette is definitely one to purchase.

I also picked up a lipstick, shade “DAZZLE”, this an extremely bright pink and I love it. It dries matt but does not crease.

Lastly, I also brought a blusher, you get so much product compared to the price you pay. And we all know I love a bargain. I was hoping to pick up a coral shade but they were out of stock at the time. So I brought a pink, the pink is nice and I do use it, but I prefer coral colours, so will be keeping my eye open for the coral to come back in.

Overall, it’s a thumbs up from me on this range! (no surprise here)

Diet Aid Drink Test...

I'm so lazy...

If you follow me on Instagram you may have noticed an odd looking drink I posted a few days ago.

I've seen this drink pop up on a number of pages recently so I thought I'd give it ago. It is meant to go as a diet aid and speed up your
metabolism. It's made up if water, cucumber, mint leaves and lemon.

In two litres if water, add half a cucumber, lemon slices (about a quarter of the lemon) and a hand full of mint leaves. Refrigerate over night and then drink throughout out the day.

I don't know about speeding up metabolism as I have only been drinking it for two days, but it tastes lovely.  I have noticed that is makes me hungry, so maybe it is digesting my food quicker...

Give it ago..

My "go to" makeup brushes...

As I was cleaning my brushes, I came up with a great blog post idea... My "go to" makeup brushes.

So here goes....from left to right...

A small contour brush, please note, I don't wear foundation every day... I use this brush to apply bronzer/blush/highlighter. I've had this brush for years... Can't even remember where I got it from... It's super soft and fluffy.

The next brush is an eyeshadow brush. I use this one to pack the colour onto my eyelids. I think I got this one, a while back in the sale from wilkos.

Next is a blender brush, I paid £1.50 for it from Bodycare (a toiletry shop). It's great for blending eyeshadow.

The orange brush, I've had for ages... It's great for blending eyeshadow... It came in a pack, this is the only brush I have left. I use this one when creating a smokey eye, I use a circular motion to blend out the harsh lines from my crease.

The next brush I use to fill in my brows. Followed by the gold stem brush (second brush from the left), which I use to even out the brow powder.

Next, is a brush I brought of eBay as part if a set. It's meant to be a lip brush but I use it to apply gel liner. You can create a perfect wing with this brush.

The last brush, I only use this when I apply foundation and concealer. I brought this from Primark for £1. It's a good brush concealer, one of the better ones from Primark.

Wow, that was a quick post... Lol.

Recent Purchases....

Once again, I have been away for such a long time... I do apologise, but I have been fasting during the month of Ramadan and to be honest I wasn't really using any products that I could blog about.

But now that I'm back, I thought I'd write about a few bits that I have picked up.

Firstly, I have picked up two Rimmel "lasting finish 1000 kisses" lip tints. In shades "nothing but nude" and "carry in cherry". These are like felt tip pens for your lips, they go on wet but dry to a matt finish. Do not lick your lips when the product is still wet, it tastes horrid.

Secondly, I picked up a smoothing facial scrub by the the brand Simple. It's an exfoliating scrub and is fragrance free. Apart from that I can't say much about it as I haven't been using it for long.

Thirdly, I picked the "egg makeup sponge" from Primark, don't bother buying this. I know it was super cheap but it's the same as a regular sponge.

Lastly, I brought Skinlogy, cleansing facial wipes, I use these to clean my makeup brushes... They work a treat. I don't want to use alcohol on my brushes and over washing them ruins the brush, so I use these. Its amazing how much product you can remove from the brushes using these.

I've been thinking for starting an OOTD section on here for hijabi's, let me know what you think...

Anyway, that's it for now.
O O O, for all my muslimah sisters out there, Eid Mubarak.

Makeup Revolution

Recently my twitter news feed is full of tweets about a new budget brand, Makeup Revolution.
When I first noticed this brand I took a look at the website and was impressed at the prices. The lipsticks start from just £1 and the palettes (which are dead ringers for Urban Decays Naked range so I hear) are £4.. I finally got round to  ordering a couple of pieces this morning. Can not wait for them to come though in the post.

Makeup revolution seem to be similar to Superdrug's MUA brand, which I must say is an awesome brand. The products are super affordable and are worth buying .... I foresee exciting beauty blogging times ahead.

I hope I love Makeup Revolution as much as I love MUA.

What's in my makeup bag???

So, I thought I'd do the "what's in my makeup bag" tag.

This is going to be a fairly quick read because I don't carry much on me as I don't normally reapply makeup. Most days I don't even bother with foundation, let alone lipstick.

My makeup bag it's self was a a freebie No7 one from boots. I got it a few years ago as part of a deal.

Inside, I have a rimmel gel liner, now, it took me a while to get use to gel liners, I grown to love them. For days  when I am at work I will just use the little brush in the lid, otherwise I do have a very thin eyeliner brush I use. I do also carry a brown eye shadow for my brows - although I seem to have lost the brush.

Currently I am using two mascara's, one is the fibre mascara from the model company. This mascara is extremely black, it's such a struggle to wash off. The other one is a brown maybeline one, it's the stiletto mascara. I like the brush on this one. It's really helps to separate the lashes. This is the one I carry with me all the time.

Currently I use two blushers and depending the colours I'm wearing I will decide which blush to go for. Both blushes are from the Makeup Acadamy range. One is in a pink shade and the other is coral shade called lolly. Lolly is the one in my makeup bag at the moment.

I also carry a lipgloss that I hardly ever apply, it's a coral shade from the model co. I do however leave the house wearing lipstick, at the moment I'm obsessed with a Pakistani lipstick brand called "swissmiss".(I don't carry it with me) It has a Matt finish, so I go over it with a lip balm. I heard about an Indian lipstick brand called lakhme, I have been search for this in the UK, so far I haven't come across it - instead I found "Swiss miss" and have been using it ever since.

If I do need to add some colour to my lips during the day, I use a lip crayon from Primark. It's in a nude shade.

That is about it, although in my bag I do keep Carmex for my lips, and nieva cream for those dry days.

I also carry a pair if tweezers and some nail clippers - just in case I need them.

And that's about it... Sorry it's taken so long to upload this post, I'm back at work now.

W7 "in the buff" eye shadow palette..

I recently came across the W7 "In The Buff Palette" for the bargain price of just £6. I've read about this palette being a dupe for the Urban Decay Naked 2 palette. As I'm not yet willing to part with my money for the Naked palettes, I knew this baby was coming home with me.

This palette contains both shimmery and matte shades, my favourite of which are Camel - a rich gold - and Wave - a shining brown.

Though visually stunning I find that the shades are not particularly long lasting and tend to crease somewhat throughout the day. But 12 shades for £6 is a bargain and as long as you're not expecting the colour to last all day (plus evening).

With this palette you do get a wide range of colours that will appeal to anyone lusting after the Naked palettes for barely a fraction of the price. The neutral shades are sure to compliment any eye, whether you're just getting into makeup or hitting the town on a Friday night, this palette has the perfect combination of neutral and smoky looks. I definitely recommend using a primer and a base before use.

The palette comes in a stylishly strong metal tin that serves to protect them from accidental drops. It also comes with a double ended brush, one side is a sponge applicator and the other side is dual fibre brush. I do however prefer using my other brushes over this one.

Overall, this is a great palette for the price and I defo recommend it, so if you see it, get it. It's great for creating a subtle smokey eye.

Below is a photo of the look I went for. Bare in mind I took this photo at the end of the day & I had a major attack of hay fever - crazy watery eyes!!!

Cannes film festival... Aishwarya

I know I'm a bit late in the day for this but I just had to say, Aishwarya Rai Bachan  pulled all the stops out for the Cannes film festival.

She looked absolutely amazing on the red carpet in her gold strapless Cavalli dress. Her soft curls and neutral makeup added beautiful to her show stopping lips. Which, her stylist perfectly matched with the red carpet!

Party makeup...

I was asked recently to do my friends makeup for a wedding she was attending...

The eye shadow colours are from superdrugs @MuaCosmetics range...
Very pigmented colours, very impressed! The "up all night" palette is definitely a good purchase.

I used the light shade from the "undressed" palette as a highlight on the browbone. The "undressed" palette is amazing and I use all the time for everyday neutral looks!

What do you think...

Slightly different post today....

Hi guys,

Sorry it's been a while... Good news, I have some time off for work so will be writing all the reviews I haven't got round to doing.

This post however is slightly different... I wanted to post a painting I have done recently...

It's inspired by a Rumi poem...

"They say there is a doorway from heart to heart, but what use is a doorway when there are no walls?"

Let me know what you think... You can find other examples of my work on Facebook, just search iqra_art

Rushed post...

Hi Guys,
Thank you for being so patient with me. I am rubbish at keeping my blog up-to-date….

This post is going to be a quick over view of things I have purchased recently.

Firstly, I picked up a lip crayon from Primark for £1.50, it is lovely and creamy. It really moisturises your lips while adding a little bit of colour.
Secondly, have any of you ever heard of a brand called “LOOK beauty”, well I came across this brand about a week ago in Superdrug. They had a half-price sale on so I picked up a few bits. I am really pleased with the products I brought. I picked up a contour/blusher and highlighter palette which is lovely. I choose the palette with the peachy blush – currently I am loving coral colours.        I’m not sure about the highlighter. Its white in colour, I feel like its noticeable – but not in a good way I don’t know how else to explain it. I have other highlighters which I absolutely love, this one is ok; maybe I’m not the right skin tone for it.
I also picked up a Gold eye shadow - I LOVE IT!
I also brought a blending brush – I needed another one. It’s crazy, out of all the brushes I have, I really only have two blending brushes (now three).
What else have I brought… o yes, I brought a purse off eBay, it’s a nice size, has loads of slots to hold your cards, I don’t really like the material it’s made from. The description said “pu leather” – I can live with it, I just don’t like it.
O and I got a free lip gloss from Glamour magazine, I got the pink shade. The lip gloss is from a brand called “Model co”; I’m using mascara from the same brand at the moment. I like it.

I think that’s about it for now – until next time (I’ll try not to leave it too late)

MUA PURCHASES!!!

Hi Guys,

I am so sorry for my blogging absence – again. Blogging is harder than it looks.

Anyway, I wanted to share a few products I’ve brought recently from Superdrug’s MUA range.

I’ve been using their products for a while now; the range is such great value for money.
So, I picked up the Up all night palette for £4, you get 10 colours in the palette, and they are so pigmented. Defiantly go and buy this palette, you will not regret it.
I also needed a new white eye liner pencil and I was hitting pan on my Bubble-gum blusher. These three items cost me £6, which meant I got a freebie… yay, I love a bargain. I picked the eye shadow blast in gold. I wear it under gold eye shadow, it helps the colour last younger and brightens the eye lid... and it’s so lovely and creamy.

They also had an eyebrow kit, I regret not buying it when I saw it, so I went back to purchase it but they had sold out, I will be keeping my eye out for it in other Superdrug stores. It was very inexpensive, I think it was about £3 and it had a cute little tweezer with it.

Look at how pigmented the colours are!!

Garnier Moisture Match Wake Me Up Gel - Review

Hey everyone, firstly I just wanted to say thank you so much for sticking by me through my blogging absence. I have been super-duper busy with work, I have been working a ridicules amount of hours this month – so I am always tired.

Before I get started on this product that I have been using for the last few weeks, I just wanted to say, follow me on twitter, @London_blogger1, I post random stuff on there.

Anyway, so today I am reviewing the Garnier Moisture Match, Wake Me Up "Revitalising Hydrating Gel".
This product has been out for a while, but for some odd reason, I never came across it until now. The Moisture match comes in a range of 5 different products, aimed for every type of skin type. I picked this one because it is for “dull skin”, and I really do feel like my skin needs a “pick me up”. The product looked perfect.
It comes in an oil free gel form for sensitive skin. The first time I wore this product, it did make my skin tingle, in a slight uncomfortable way. That’s never happened again with it, so I doubt that the gel actually caused that.

I have been using this product every day for the last three weeks and to be honest I haven’t actually noticed a difference in my skins appearance or texture. Saying that, I still like this product. It has a lovely smell to it and glides on to your skin. It’s very fast absorbing so there no waiting around before you can start applying your makeup. Maybe I didn’t pick the right one for my skin and that’s why I feel like it didn’t do anything for my skin?
I don’t know, either way, I don’t regret buying this product or it definitely won’t stop me from tying on another on in the range.

Pros:
  • Absorbs into the skin fast so you don't have to wait around to apply your make up.
  • Oil free so doesn't leave your skin feeling greasy.
  • Smells really fresh and delicate.
  • Suitable for sensitive skin sufferers like me.
Cons:
  • Really light formulation and texture so doesn't always feel like it's giving a deep hydration which may be a problem for people with dry skin.
  • A little pricey at £5.99 for a 50ml tube.
  • Didn’t do what it said on the tin.

Let me know what you think.

120 Eye ShadowPalette

Hi Guys,

I just wanted to show two looks I created using the 120 Palette I brought online, some time ago.

It’s a lovely palette and I don’t use it as much as I should. It has every colour you could ever possibly need. It has a range of Matt and Shimmer shades. Some of the colours are more pigmented then others, but that’s the same with every eye shadow.

So anyway, the first look I created, I used pinks, blue and purple.

The second look was a heavy black maroon smoky double wing look. you can't really see the double wing in this photo, but its there - I promise

Anyway, Let me know what you think...

Barbara Daly makeup Brush set review

This brush set is normally on sale in Tesco for £14, but today I saw these at £.367. I picked up a brush set and two extra eye shadow brushes; at £1.05 each (I figured how wrong I could go at that price?).
In the set you get 5 brushes, blusher brush, which is a nice size and ever so soft. I would prefer it if it was a bit denser, because you could then use it as a powder brush. The next brush is a Foundation brush; I don’t like the feel of this brush. It is a nice size, but the bristles don’t feel nice at all. You also get a small Lip brush in the set, which is good to have. I love the Eye shadow brush. It is a flat looking brush so can be used to pack colour on to the lids. But at the same time it seems fluffy enough to blend with.  You also get a two headed brow brush/comb. I rarely use these and would have preferred another brush, maybe a small contour brush?

Either way, I am happy with this brush set, and if you’re lucky and near a Tesco’s I would definitely go in a pick up this set. Considering you could pick up an eye shadow brush, alone, for the same price I paid for the whole set.
It’s a bargain…

Happy Shopping…

Boots Bargain Shopping

Hi Guys,

I just wanted to share a quick bargain I found with you guys, so you can also benefit.
A couple of days ago, while in my local boots, I found loads of clearance makeup from the Seventeen range.
Now, I have not used this brand before, but at 50p a nail varnish and £1 a lipstick, I didn’t think I could go wrong. I was right, with these two products, I didn’t go wrong.

However I also picked up a foundation. I picked the shade “Honey” which looked like a perfect dupe for my body shop 305 foundation. It’s has a matt finish which is great and it looked nice on. My mum, my biggest critic, also complemented it, which is proof enough for me that it looked good.

Only issue is the next morning, my face was so extremely dry and flaky. So if you have oily skin, then this is perfect for you, stay away from it if you have dry or combination skin.

Saying that, the lipsticks are great. I picked up so many items for a total of £16 pounds, but at the same time I got 400 points on my boots card which amount to £4. So, really I only spent £12.

Happy Days!

This isn't even everything.

Statement Necklace Craze

Hi All,

How are you guys going? I hope 2013 was good to you, hopefully 2014 will be better.

I hoping to blog a lot more this year, but I work all day in front of a PC and hate the thought of sitting in front of one in the evening – hope you understand.  But I am planning on getting back in to the swing of things.

Firstly this year I would like to share a few statement necklaces I have purchased in the sales over the holidays. I don’t normally buy neck jewellery because I wear a Hijab and my neck in never on show. But that is the fantastic thing about these necklaces; they are long and big enough to wear under or even on top of you Hijab. I posted a few of these on my Instagram page, BobaleenaA – feel free to follow me – be aware that if you request to follow me but have zero posts of your own – you will not be accepted.

Anyway, let’s start; the first one I brought was one I had my eye on for a while. It’s from New Look, and I picked it up for £6. It is a very Asian style necklace.

The second one, is also from New look. I brought these two at the same time – I just didn’t have the heart to put it down – it was also £6. Isn’t it just lovely?

The Third one is a smaller one I Picked up from Primark. I like the black and gold chain, this one was a complete bargain at £2. I know £2; I would have been a crime not to buy this one.

The forth one is from Mark & Spencer, I wouldn’t normally have picked this one as it is a smaller version of the one above but it was brought for me and I will wear it, so I’ve added it in.

I have saved the best one till last – I loved it as soon as I set my eyes on it.  I picked this one up for £8 from River Island. I saw it in my local shop but it had stones missing, so I went out of town to pick this up – so glad I managed to get it. It reminds me of the Indian Maharaja Style jewellery.  I love all of these buys, but this one is defiantly my favourite one.

Which one is your favourite?

For someone that doesn’t normally buy necklaces, buying 5 (4 plus one gift) in the last two weeks is just crazy. I normally just wear bracelets but can now see myself wearing necklaces too – happy days.

Well, that is all for now, Hopefully my next post will be based on French Connections make up palette and Brushes that I picked up, so watch out for that.

Also, just to fill you in about my eyebrow growing issue from my last post, I had to get them done sooner than planned.  I will start the test again at the end of the month. I need neat eyebrows for a few weeks - after that I will let them just grow wild.

Anyway, we shall meet again on my next post…
